Southern Utah is well-known for its breathtaking beauty. Between the striking red sandstone mountains, the cascading waterfalls hidden among the desert landscapes, and the never-ending hiking and outdoor adventure opportunities, there’s nowhere else I’d rather call home.
If you’re visiting the area and want to get the most amazing photos AND experience that you possibly can, I’m here to help. Here are 10 of my favorite most Instagrammable places in Southern Utah. When I say my most favorite, that’s a loose term. There’s too many to pick! This list is by no means all of them.
*Make sure you check out ALL the options for Southern Utah hikes here!*
#1. Zion National Park

There’s so much to see at Zion. It’s definitely a place you should see before you kick the bucket. Yes, it’s touristy, and yes it’s probably the most obvious one, but it still deserves to make the list! If you’ve seen it for yourself then you know why!

#2. Yant Flat (Candy Cliffs)

Yant flat is absolutely stunning. Off the beating path and away from the crowds, you’re sure to get some amazing shots. You’ll want to give yourself a few hours to discover the sandstone formations after your hike in.
You can read all the details about this hike, here.

#3. Cedar Breaks National Monument

Cedar Breaks is by far one of my favorite places in Southern Utah. So many different mountain landscapes that will take your breath away. You can visit in any season and still see unique and gorgeous photo opportunities everywhere you look.
In the spring you’ll see a mountain full of wildflowers, in the fall you’ll see unlimited golden leaves and in the winter you’ll witness the striking red mountains turn into a winter wonderland.

#4. Cascade Falls – Cedar Mountain

The entire Cedar Mountain area is chalked full of stunning photo-worthy landscapes. You can see views of Pine Valley and other areas from almost anywhere.
Cascade Falls is one of my favorite hidden gems in the area! An easy hike will take you to some major Instagrammable locations and you’ll end the hike at a beautiful waterfall! It doesn’t get any better than that!
You can read more about Cascade Falls here.
#5. Snow Canyon State Park

Snow Canyon is breathtaking. If you’ve followed along with my blog before, I’ve even mentioned that I love it way more than Zion National Park. My favorite views in the park sit at the Petrified Dunes Trail. It’s definitely one of the most underrated state parks in Utah.
You can read all about the hikes and trails at Snow Canyon State Park here.
#6. Cinder Cone Trail

As long as you hike this the easy way, (follow the trail like a normal person) this is an easy hike with amazing views! Plus, you can tell everyone you hiked a volcano, so there’s that. Once you get to the top you’ll see amazing 360-views.

You can also watch me climb it in a stunning 4K video, here!
#7. Scout Cave Trail

Scout Cave Trail leads to a cave with unique photo opportunities and also gives you spectacular views of the St George area.

#8. Hell Hole Canyon – Kayenta
View this post on InstagramA post shared by The Rambling Raccoon (@theramblingraccoon) on
The IDEAL time to go to Hell Hole is during or after the area receives a ton of rain. (Good luck with that, since it is the desert.) If you’re lucky enough to see it during this time you’ll see amazing waterfalls cascading off the striking red rocks.
I have hiked this multiple times during the rain and still haven’t seen the spectacular cliffs overflowing with water, but I will see it someday!
Get all the details on Hell Hole here.
You can also watch the featured video on this hike here.
#9. Fire Lake State Park – AKA Ivins Reservoir

Ivins Reservoir features a lake set right under the gorgeous towering red mountains. You can fish, swim, kayak, or simply chill on the beach. And if you want to see the best sunsets in Southern Utah, you’ll see it here!
#10 Kanarraville Falls

This hike now requires payment and a permit per person. It’s still so incredibly worth it to see it for yourself. Chances are you’ve seen this photo on social media already. It’s really neat to see in person! This hike features multiple waterfalls and even natural waterslides!
You can read all about this epic hike and amazing waterfalls here.
But wait, there’s more

People don’t realize how nice Southern Utah is. Moab is very scenic. But then again, not everyone is into the great outdoors.
That’s very true! Moab is actually 5.5 hours away from the St George area! But most people outside of Utah still consider Moab Southern Utah lol
