Montego Bay, Jamaica

2 2

Jamaica is one of the most beautiful places to visit. Between the Caribbean ocean and the amazingly laid back, friendly locals, it’s sure to be a great time. I will always recommend doing tropical vacations in the wintertime. There’s two reasons for this.

One, it’s SO MUCH CHEAPER. Of course, they have year round beautiful temperatures as well so you never have to worry about that.

And two, you get to leave whatever winter hell hole you’re in at home and go to palm trees and 80 degrees. Bonus points: everyone all over the world will be jealous while they scrape their freezing car windows and put on 10 layers of clothing. Doesn’t get better than that.

As soon as you fly in, you’ll see the beautiful turquoise Caribbean waters

When I write about my travels, I’m not big on sharing where I choose to stay unless the experience blows me away. Secrets Wild Orchid Montego Bay is one of those.

This place is hands down my favorite resort I have ever stayed at. It’ll blow your mind.

The beach here is gorgeous. The sand is powdery soft and the resort does a great job of keeping control over the seaweed that washes on shore.

The food is amazing and the atmosphere is more than enough if you decide you want to just relax at the resort your entire vacation.

As for me, I never just sit at any place I stay when I vacation, which actually drives my husband insane. He’s more of a leisurely vacationer. I love to experience as much as I can when I travel. So we picked some things to go explore.

Luminous Lagoon: Falmouth, Jamaica

This place is MAGICAL!

This phenomenon only exists in 4 places in the world! This lagoon is the brightest of them all due to their more consistent climate.

The water is filled with phosphorous which allows it to illuminate so brilliantly when touched or disturbed. The fresh water from the Martha Brae River meets the salt-water ocean, creating the most amazing and memorable light-up ocean you’ll ever see. It’s truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I highly recommend going!

Hip Strip

I recommend strolling up and down Hip Strip for some shopping and food! It’s a fun little touristy spot.

Rafting on the Martha Brae

This amazing and relaxing experience is a great way to get out and see the beautiful scenery that Jamaica offers. You get your own local raft tour guide, they have a comfortable seat set up on each of the rafts, and your guide will tell you all about the history along with pointing out wildlife. You can stop on the river for drinks as well!

Speaking of Winter Vacations to Paradise…

We came here in December, which was amazing! They decorated everything for Christmas. It’s super fun to see all the Christmas trees in a tropical Caribbean paradise.

There are so many other amazing things to do in the area as well. I can’t wait to go back and experience more!
