Also known as Crystal Mountain, or The Old Gypsum Mine, this place is one-of-a-kind! This old selenite mine is dotted with tiny crystals that make it shimmer like it’s covered in glitter!
UPDATE: The owner has an active claim on the mine, but it is managed by the B.L.M. Please read the owner’s requests here. You are welcome to pick any of the loose gypsum you see laying around, but please don’t enter the pit, per owner’s request.
This neat little place is located on the Utah/Nevada border. Just plug this address into your GPS and it’ll take you there:
Old Gypsum Crystal Mine, Littlefield, AZ 86432
Gypsum is a mineral found in crystal as well as masses called gypsum rock.
As with most hikes in the area, I would suggest going in the early morning or evening due to the heat. There is no shade. Also keep in mind that this is not much of a “hike” but more of a park and explore experience.
Please respect the owner’s wishes, and do your due diligence before going. It’s a super fun day trip and perfect for all ages!

This looks like such a fun place to go! Kids would also love all that glitter!
It is! Kids love it! But I’m also like a child stuck in an adult body so I equally enjoyed it! ?
